Wireless Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

SNELLING is currently seeking an experienced I.T. and Telecommunications Technician to serve as a Wireless Technician.  This position requires both in-office and field technical diagnosis duties as well as maintenance and repair tasks on a broad variety of equipment such as:  radios, repeaters & patching systems, apparatus tablets, mobile data terminals, WWAN modems, mobile tower platforms, tower sites & equipment, dashcams and fleet telemetric systems.  This equipment is vital to the successful operation of our client’s mission. 
This Wireless Technician position will be a direct hire, meaning that SNELLING would work with you through the consideration and interview process.  If a job offer is made, employment would be directly with our client and all benefits available to full-time employees would be available upon hiring.
JOB DUTIES
PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Deliver technical support via chat, phone, email, and in-person.
  • Answer I.T. department phones and assist with helpdesk operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues; escalate complex tickets as needed.
  • Install and maintain microwave antennas, radios, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with devices including mobile tech, radios, gas detectors, etc. (training provided for specialized equipment).
  • Assist with network monitoring, configuration, and security of LAN/WAN systems.
  • Provide onsite support during emergency response operations and deployments.
  • Run regular I.T. reports and document wireless network uptime.
  • Assist with budgeting recommendations for network hardware and software.
  • Perform tower climbs to install and service radio/microwave equipment.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the I.T. Manager.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Radios, repeaters, and patching systems (fixed, portable, and mobile).
  • Apparatus tablets, MDTs, WWAN modems.
  • KnoxBox and related storage security systems.
  • Mobile Command and Mobile Tower Platforms.
  • Equipment and maintenance of tower sites.
  • Dashcams and fleet telematics systems.

QUALIFICATIONS                                                                             

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of NIMS 100, 200, and 800
  • Solid understanding of LAN structures and computer systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and explaining tech in simple terms.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, data communication, and hardware/software operation.
  • Ability to safely climb communication towers up to 400 feet.
  • Within 6 months: Certifications in RF Fundamentals, EME Awareness, Hazard Communications, Telecom Site Safety, and Tower Climbing & Rescue
  • Obtain at least one certification within a year from vendors such as: Barracuda Networks (preferred), Microsoft, Dell, HP, VMWare, 3xLogic, C-COM, Ubiquiti
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (initial hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and on call as required to keep all equipment functioning properly.
