Director of Development Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION

Director of Development Operations
Non-Profit Organization | Full-Time
Our client, a mission-driven non-profit organization, is seeking a Director of Development Operations to strengthen the systems, strategies, and materials that support sustainable fundraising. This is a behind-the-scenes leadership role focused on data, analytics, grants, and donor-engagement infrastructure—not frontline solicitation.
Success in this position requires an individual who works independently, manages deadlines without reminders, and follows through on commitments with consistency. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting others to fundraise with confidence.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development operations, including fundraising plans, donor pipelines, KPI reporting, and performance dashboards.
  • Manage the donor CRM, ensuring accurate data, segmentation, reporting, and standardized processes for gift entry and acknowledgment.
  • Research, write, and submit grant proposals and reports; maintain a comprehensive grants calendar and ensure timely submissions.
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and “talk tracks” to assist the Executive Director and Board in engaging current and prospective donors.
  • Participate in select meetings with board-referred contacts to help communicate the organization’s impact and funding priorities.
  • Support donor communication efforts in partnership with marketing and program staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development operations, advancement services, or a related strategic role (analytics, sales operations, marketing strategy, or similar).
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency with CRM platforms and reporting tools.
  • Excellent writing skills, especially in grant development and donor-focused communication.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and committed to accuracy and follow-through.
  • Willingness to work in an on-site, in-person role, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional special events hours required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Takes initiative without direction and thrives in an autonomous work environment.
  • Enjoys building systems and improving processes for donor outreach and stewardship.
  • Excels at providing clear, compelling written materials to support leadership and board fundraising efforts.
  • Balances technical skills with strong communication abilities.

This position will likely be a direct hire, meaning that SNELLING would work with you through the consideration and interview process and if an offer is extended, employment would begin on the client employer’s payroll as their employee.
