Manufacturing Production Manager


Snelling is recruiting for an experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Production Manager in area south of Tyler, TX. The Manufacturing Production Manager will lead a high-volume manufacturing operation that runs 24/7.  They will serve as the main point of contact regarding staffing, safety, production scheduling and efficiency improvements.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position requires superior people skills and the ability to approach multiple challenges with a positive attitude and calm demeanor.  This is a stable but growing company and there is room for advancement.  The Production Manager will be brought into the company on a direct hire basis.
Essential Duties

  • Monitor all aspects of production, shipping & receiving and warehouse activities to ensure customer orders are met
  • Prioritize production for each line based on customer demand, inventory availability and efficiencies/capabilities of the available production team
  • Investigate current production processes to determine inefficiencies
  • Forecast and order raw materials to meet production requirements
  • Determine appropriate staffing levels needed to maintain ideal production output while meeting financial targets.
  • Help create and maintain a safety focused culture, ensuring all training requirements are met and leading by example
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all OSHA regulations and comply with all OSHA log and notification requirements.
    Lead the effort to recruit and train incoming production level employees provided by third party vendors.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to all direct reports to help make continual improvements in all areas under the responsibility of the Production Manager

Physical Demands

This position requires the Manufacturing Production Manager be able to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.  They must have good vision and hearing capability, as well as the body agility necessary to move around and work safely in all areas of the plant.  The facility can become hot, exceeding 100 degrees at times.  The scheduled work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but there will be some time required outside of those hours as necessary to get the responsibilities of the job completed.  Some travel to other facility locations or customer sites will be required, though not frequently. 
• Minimum requirement of an Associate Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.  Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• At least four (4) years of experience of progressive leadership in a manufacturing environment, with safety, production scheduling, operations, and supervision or management preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and influence all levels of an organization from the plant floor to executives.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple, changing priorities, and develop and complete actionable plans timely.
• Knowledge of Operations Management and modern manufacturing methods and systems, including Lean, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control.
• A hands-on, proactive approach in managing manufacturing personnel in a high-volume production environment.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements, especially those related to manufacturing.
• Strong, demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with an ERP system preferred.
